External claddings for portable buildings and containers are incredibly varied, and it’s important to understand the differences in appearance, durability and fire safety.
Timber Cabins are a very popular aesthetically pleasing alternative external cladding option for our Jackleg Cabins, Steel Cabins, Security Huts, Gatehouses and Modular Buildings product ranges. The durability and versatility of the finished cladding effects have ensured they remain a favourite within the industry.
Our Timber Clad Cabins are available in all types of hardwood or softwood exterior cladding. We have several standard options including Thermowood, Cedar or Painted Softwood cladding but we can clad our cabins in any other type of cladding available to the marketplace. The fascia and corner trims are fitted with Plastisol as standard but can be matched to the timber external wall cladding if preferred and can be colour matched to the main walls or supplied in another colour of preferred.
Timber clad garden buildings work especially well in situ, allowing for a more subtle and natural look to be maintained in any garden setting or green space.
Thermowood Cladding is our recommended choice for our Timber Clad Cabins. Thermowood is a heat treated softwood that is as hard wearing as most hardwood cladding, will be maintenance free for 10+ years and is cheaper than the hardwood alternatives. Due to the low maintenance nature of timber cladding, thermowood in particular, it’s an incredibly eco-friendly option and building material for the fact that it prevents the creation of non-recyclable waste – important to bear in mind if eco-impact is a top priority for your project.
If fire ratings are required, we can treat the timber cladding with a fire varnish or alternatively we can offer a timber effect cladding called Cedral Lap which will comply with most required regulations for fire.
TIMBER CLADDING OPTIONS:
Thermowood Cladding – A heat treat softwood product as hard wearing as hardwood at a reduced price. Thermowood is also very low maintenance.
Cedar Hardwood Cladding – A very popular, cost effective hardwood cladding for many portable cabin applications. Cedar is very hard wearing but without treatment will turn silver in sunlight in a very short period of time, the long term aesthetic outcome must be kept in mind when considering this as a cladding choice.
Softwood Cladding (Painted) – This option is not recommended as it is generally around the same cost as Thermowood Cladding but will require repainting every 12-24 months. Without regular yearly maintenance, softwood cladding can degrade over time.
Cedral Lap Cladding – Cedral Lap is a resin/cement based product, manufactured with a timber woodgrain effect which is available in a pre-painted range of colours. This product is more expensive than the others but will last the lifetime of the building, requires no maintenance and has a class 0 spread of flame.
BRICK SLIP CLADDING:
We offer no standard brick slip cladding options, as with this external cladding option we are most likely to be asked to match to the existing brick type used on the intended delivery site for our building. Any brick types available to the market we can use to fit bespoke brick-slip cladding.
VINYL WRAPPING:
We can offer vinyl wrapping to our portable buildings and storage containers, any cost would include the supply and fitting of the vinyl wrapping but we do not supply artwork within the standard costs. Please contact us to discuss this option further.
MODERN CLADDING:
Any other exterior cladding types available to the market, we would be able to supply and fit to our buildings and cabins. You will see from the gallery below that we have fitted many other types of cladding like Trespa or Prodema, please contact us for further details.
